It is said that many ghosts haunt the forbidding deserts as the trails can be very unforgiving. Exactly how many adventurers who have gone into the desert, never to return, is vastly unknown. Some have gone in search of gold, some in search of buried treasure; but this is the story of one who went in search of love. She was a very fragile woman, dressed in her wedding gown, with a sadness in her eyes that left you wondering why she was so unhappy on what should be a glorious day. As she waited at the Vallecito Station, in California, to catch the next stage, she was pacing anxiously back and forth. Her husband to be, had struck it rich in the gold fields and was waiting anxiously for her to join him in California. Unfortunately, she had become deathly ill during her journey and died at the Vallecito Station. Because she was buried a few hundred yards from the station, it is told that if you camp near the old Vallecito Station, you too, may see "The Lady in White," still pacing the grounds where the station once stood-still waiting for her stage to take her to her lost love.
